OKECC opens each weekday at 7:30am, closes at 6:00pm Monday-Thursday, and closes by 6:00pm on Fridays, with the time varying throughout the year in accordance with Shabbat. The school year runs approximately 40 weeks for children enrolled in our Half Day program and year-round for children enrolled in our Full Day program. All children enrolled at OKECC participate in the morning portion of our Core Program that runs from 9:15am-1:00pm. In the later part of the morning, OKECC provides all children with a kosher and nut-free snack. Families provide a nut-free dairy lunch.
We offer an early drop-off program for all students. Children may arrive at any time between 7:30-9:00am. The children are involved in supervised indoor free play activities and are seamlessly integrated into their core classroom by 9:15am.
OKECC provides various after-school programs that run on a weekly schedule, with different activities offered each day of the week. On Mondays, we have two sections of Art from either 1:15-2:30pm or 2:45-4:00pm, reserved for children in the four-year-old classes. Beginning in January of each year, a Monday enrichment from 1:15-2:30pm is offered for children in the three-year-old classes. On Tuesdays through Fridays, throughout the school year, we have a daily enrichment from 1:15-2:30pm available to all children in the three- or four-year-old classes. Options vary each year, and have included Earth Explorations, Step It Up Sports, Karate, Yoga and MoEd Kids (an Israeli/Judaic-based program).
To enroll in enrichment or for more information see our Forms and Calendars page that contains specifics on the current year offerings.
We have a Parent-Toddler program for toddlers (ages 15 to 24 months old) and their parents or caregivers. Classes are held 90 minutes, one morning a week. The purpose of this program is to introduce parents and children to the world of preschool. Parents have the opportunity to discuss concerns and exchange ideas about child rearing, while children explore the preschool environment using age appropriate materials in a group setting. stay and play group
We offer a place for parents and their children ages 14 months or younger to spend time together. Sessions are for 90 minutes, one morning a week. The group is provided a designated classroom where parents and children have the opportunity to explore our material, use our toys, connect with other parents, and play. Music and Hebrew
Our Hebrew and music specialists are an integral and meaningful part of our day at the ECC, and visit each class weekly. We have been extremely fortunate that our Hebrew specialists for the past several years have been Shaliachim (emissaries) from the Jewish Agency of Israel. They are young, energetic, and enthusiastic Educators who visit the classroom once a week. The children become familiar with the Hebrew language, through songs, stories and dramatic play. Israel is also a piece of the curriculum and is shared in an organic way.
Our music teacher brings a love of music and Judaism to the children when she joins their classroom one day a week. The children learn a variety of songs, from children’s classics to the latest Jewish holiday songs, as well as traditional Jewish songs and songs in Hebrew. With her guitar in hand, props and musical instruments by her side, the children engage in an interactive, joyous experience.
Ta’am Shel Shabbat
Every Friday we celebrate the “sweetness of Shabbat” with music and dance. The 2’s classes have Ta’am Shel Shabbat at 11:45-12 PM. At 12:30 PM, the 3’s and 4’s classes celebrate Ta’am Shel Shabbat. All are welcome and encouraged to join us.
With the same hours of operation and quality as the preschool program, including early drop-off and enrichment options, OKECC Summer Discovery is a fun-filled summer program available for our Half Day children and other families in our community seeking a summer option for their children. Weekly themes, water play, Ta'am Shel Shabbat, and special visitors are all part of this nine-week program.
