The JCRC of Greater Washington's Community-Wide Holocaust Commemoration in Maryland

"Unto Every Person There Is A Name"
An annual worldwide name reading program coordinated by B'nai B'rith International. This public name reading commemorates children and adults who perished in the Holocaust, restoring some dignity to those who were stripped of their identities and robbed of their lives.  Individuals may submit names of loved ones who perished in the Shoah or bring them to the service to be read and remembered. An interactive discussion and speakers on this year's them followed by a ceremonial candle lighting.

Art & Artifacts Exhibit (Submissions Welcome)
The JCRC welcomes Holocaust related memorabilia, research and artwork submitted by survivors, youth and members of the community. Contact: JCRCExhibits [at] gmail [dot] com for details. Also on display is Montgomery College Foundation’s Portraits of Life Exhibit with photographs and personal stories of Holocaust survivors who witnessed evil, then turned their backs on hatred to tell their stories.  

Dor V'Dor Community Dialogues with Holocaust Survivors
Inviting all members of the community and families to interact with local Holocaust survivors as they share their living testimony of survival and triumph

Interactive Teen Program: Area teens will meet with a Holocaust survivor and current refugee to understand their "Struggles to Find a Home."  The discussions will be followed by teen led commemorative activities.

Community Commemoration Featuring A Keynote Presentation: Community-wide remembrance includes a memorial candle lighting, Kaddish, reflection, music, poetry, and a memorial to the destroyed communities of Europe.
