Pledge 30: Agnon’s Short Stories

Location:
Murray & Nettie Kaye Social Hall (West Side)

Facilitated by Bob Gerwin; bbgerwin [at] gmail [dot] com

A discussion of Agnon’s short stories.

December 3                 The Fable of the Goat

January 7                     The Kerchief

January 14                   A Whole Loaf

February 4                   Agunot

March 18                     A Book that was Lost

Agnon’s short stories may be found in S.Y. Agnon, 21 Short Stories, published by Schocken Press, now out of print but available from Amazon and other used book dealers. Other stories may be found in A Book that was Lost, a compilation of 25 stories edited by Alan Mintz and Anne Hoffman, also published by Schocken. These books are in English. Where possible, Hebrew versions of the stories will be made available at the time we meet. The stories and some background commentary will be available ahead of time at the Shul, on the announcements table outside the Sanctuary.  Everyone is invited. Each discussion is self-contained, so that it is not necessary to attend each session in order to participate, although attending each one would certainly be enriching.
