Yvonne White

Yvonne White and her husband, David Pincus, joined Ohr Kodesh in 2008 when their son Ari was about to start the ECC. They became a happy family of four when Daphna was born, and have been thrilled to call OKC synagogue home.

Yvonne likes to keep busy. At Ohr Kodesh she dabbled in a few areas, trying to be useful. She: served on the ECC PTA board, survived organizing the Purim Ball prize table for three years (whew!), coordinated youth programming for one of the congregational retreats, co-represented OKC in a two-year Ruth Fellowship Program in food justice through the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) and Jews United for Justice (JUFJ), delivered Shabbat candles to patients at Suburban Hospital on a rotating shift for 5 years, served on the OKC board as the chair of the then-new Security Committee, and trained with Community Security Services (CSS) to work shifts for the OKC team. You might also see her washing dishes at a Green Kiddush here and there.

Yvonne was put to work as a volunteer at a young age. She went with her mother to deliver Meals on Wheels, and ran monthly bingo games at a nursing home. Throughout college she volunteered with Easter Seals and at group homes, joined the Peace Corps after college, and taught GED courses to young adults during graduate school.

David and Yvonne agree that teaching their children the importance of helping others is a top priority. Together they make sandwiches for Bethesda Cares, deliver meals when babies join the community, and enjoyed the Sunday evenings spent serving dinner at N Street Village.
Ari and Daphna attend Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School. As an educator, Yvonne fell head over heels in love with Milton and decided to get David involved as a volunteer. After two years of being signed up for big and small gigs, he removed Yvonne as family social secretary. It was a fair move, so to do her part she chaired the PTA for two years, served on the board, helped with the annual Purim Ball and chaired it for two years.

Yvonne adores teaching preschool special education in Montgomery County. She enjoys trying to keep up with David when they walk in the park, practically eats books, and loves spending her summers at Camp Ramah in New England with Ari and Daphna.
